Hercules and the Waggoner
大力神与车夫
A Waggoner was once driving a heavy load along a very muddy way.
一名车夫赶着一辆很重的货车沿着一条非常泥泞的小路前行。
At last he came to a part of the road where the wheels sank half-way intothe mire, and the more the horses pulled, the deeper sank the wheels.
最后，一半车轮陷入泥潭，马拉得越用力，车轮陷得越深。
So the Waggoner threw downhis whip, and knelt downand prayed to Hercules the Strong.
于是车夫扔下鞭子，跪在地上，祈求大力神出现。
"O Hercules, help me in this my hour of distress," quoth he.
他说：“大力神啊，在我危难的时刻请来帮帮我吧。”
But Hercules appeared to him, and said:
